House Painting Reminders
Dear Riverdale Dunes Homeowners,
We have noticed several homes in the community that are in need of house painting. Please see the suggestions below below with recommendations on house painting in the community.
Recommended Time Frame for House Painting: It is generally recommended that homes be repainted every 5 to 7 years, depending on several factors such as climate, exposure to sun, and the quality of the paint used.
Signs That a Home Needs Repainting: Here are a few signs to look for that indicate it may be time to repaint your home:
- Peeling, Cracking, or Bubbling Paint – These are clear signs of damage to the paint layer, often due to weather exposure or age.
- Fading or Discoloration – Paint can lose its vibrancy over time due to sun exposure, leading to a faded or washed-out appearance.
- Wood Damage – If your home has wooden siding, look for any signs of rotting or warping, which can indicate that the paint has failed to protect the wood properly.
By staying on top of these signs and adhering to the recommended repainting schedule, homeowners can help ensure their properties remain in good condition and are protected from the elements.
If your home needs to be repainted, please take the following steps with the District.
If you are keeping the colors on the home the same, you can proceed with repainting. No approval from the District is required.
If you are changing any of the colors on the home, you will need to submit an application to the Metro District. The application is available online here. With the application, please include a photo of your home, photos of the homes on each side of your home, and samples of the colors you plan to use. The District has approved color schemes, please click here to view them. One of the color schemes must be selected to paint your home. Please include the number of the color scheme selected on the application.
